Mira Bhayandar: Two days after the Kashigain police nabbed a lady drug peddler for defying externment (tadipaar) orders, personnel attached to the ACP office (Navghar division) arrested a member of the notorious gutkha mafia for committing the same offence by illegally entering into the city limits.
According to the police, the accused who has been identified as-Munib Rambrij Gupta (30) has multiple offences registered against him under the relevant sections of the IPC and Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restriction on Sales) Act, 2011 at the Navghar police station for his involvement in running a thriving guthka business.
The deputy commissioner of police (DCP-Zone I) had issued an order on 19, September, 2024 in accordance with the provisions under the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951 externing Gupta from the limits of Thane, Palghar, Mumbai (city) and Mumbai (suburban) for a period of two years.
PSI-Akash Irle received a tip-off about Gupta’s presence in the 90 feet area of Bhayandar (west) on Wednesday. After receiving instructions from the ACP, PSI Irle immediately alerted the control room which reached the spot and arrested Gupta who had apparently arrived there to commit an offence.
Following due verifications of documents related to the validity of externment orders, the team arrested Gupta and slapped an additional offence against him at the Navghar police station under section 142 of the same act which deals with entering without permission from an area to which it has been directed upon to remove herself/himself. Further investigations were underway.
