Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Three youths have been identified and arrested for allegedly assaulting and tearing off uniform of a Muslim GRP cop at Rani Kamlapati Station in Bhopal on Tuesday. This action was taken under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Railway Rahul Kumar Lodha and Deputy Superintendent of Police Bittu Sharma.

After the arrest, the police took out a procession of the accused in Habibganj area, where the accused were seen openly saying “Police Hamari Baap Hai, Police Par Hath Uthana Paap Hai.” (Police is our father. It is a sin to attack police.)

Three drunk youths abused and attacked GRP Officer

This disturbing incident took place at Bhopal’s Rani Kamlapati Railway Station on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday at 2 am, in which three drunk youths hurled abuses and attacked GRP (Government Railway Police) officers. During the incident, a constable’s uniform was also torn.

After receiving the information, police arrested one accused on same day, while two others arrested today and paraded.

Special team formed to search

The GRP formed a special team to search for the accused, which continuously raided areas like Lambakheda, Karond, Bhanpur and Chowpra.

On Tuesday, all three accused were arrested near Manohar Dairy, Bhopal. A black Scorpio car has also been seized from the possession of the accused, which was used at the time of the incident.

Accused made communal remark

The arrested main accused Dilip Ahirwar asked the other policemen to step aside with the intention of inciting the crowd at the scene, “You move away, you are a Hindu, this policeman is a Muslim.”

Considering this statement serious, the police have also added Section 196 BNS of the Indian Penal Code in the FIR.
