Thane Police Seize Cocaine Worth ₹10 Lakh, Arrest Three Including Nigerian National | Representative Image
Thane: The Property cell of Thane police have arrested three individuals, including a Nigerian national, for allegedly possessing 101 grams of cocaine worth over Rs 10 lakh.
The arrested accused have been identified as Azhar alias Alam Abid Shaikh, 27, Umsam alias Sonu Abdul Quadeer Shaikh, 37, and the Nigerian national identified as Onyedikachi Ikechukwu, 24. The police said they received information that two men would come to the service road near RTO Thane, Thane West on January 1.
They intercepted and found cocaine in their possession. During the interrogation with them, they revealed the name of a Nigerian national. They laid a trap in Navi Mumbai and arrested him.
A case was filed under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The police said they arrested the accused, produced him in court, and remanded him in police custody for further investigation.
Shailesh Salvi, PRO of Thane Police said, “They are trying to determine where they procured the contraband and where else contraband they kept it. Furthermore, the investigation is underway.”
