Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The probe agencies are yet to unravel the mystery behind the cash and gold found in a car after the raids on the residential premises of former constable of the Transport Department, Saurabh Sharma.
Three months have passed since three agencies investigated the case, but they have yet to hit upon a clue about the 52 kg of gold and Rs 11 crore found in the car at Mendori in the state capital.
After the Special Police Establishment of Lokayukta, the officials of ED and Income-tax department also quizzed Sharma and his two accomplices Sharad Jaiswal and Chetan Singh.
By questioning the trio, the probe agencies failed to lay their hands on any clue about the gold and cash. According to sources, the trio denied having any connection with the gold and cash.
In a statement, Chetan said though the four-wheeler was registered in his name, Sharma used it.
Nevertheless, Chetan said he had been ignorant about whether the gold and cash belonged to Sharma. Because the four-wheeler belonged to Chetan, the probe agencies questioned him more than his two other associates. The probe agencies wanted to know how many such vehicles were used to send gold and cash to other places, but the trio said they were unaware of it.
According to sources, the agencies are trying to lay their hands on some clues: from where the gold and cash were received, and who were responsible for sending to other places.
In CCTV footage, the car was seen, but it was yet to be known through which places the vehicle passed, where it reached and at what time it arrived at the place where it was parked.
ED is trying to get some more CCTV footage to unravel the mystery behind the four-wheeler.
