Mumbai – On the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, the administration succeeded in stopping 26 child marriages in various parts of Maharashtra.
While there are large -scale marriages on the auspicious time, child marriages take place in remote areas of the state. Keeping this in mind, the Women and Child Development Department took a meeting of district collectors, top police officers and officers of Women and Child Development Department through video conferencing two days ago and urged them to take immediate steps to stop child marriage.
Vigilance was taken by the police and district administration and on the eve of Akshaya Tritiya, a total of 26 child marriages were stopped in other parts of the state including two child marriage in Bhokar village in Nanded district and Mangnali village of Mukhed Taluka.
