26/11 Mumbai Terror Attack Hero Sub-Inspector Tukaram Omble’s Memorial To Be Built By Maharashtra Government In Satara | File

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Government has announced a plan to build a memorial for Sub-Inspector Tukaram Omble in his birthplace, Mauje Kedambe, in Satara District. Tukaram Omble, a Mumbai Police sub-inspector, was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra, India’s highest peacetime gallantry award, for his bravery during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.

The memorial for Tukaram Omble will be constructed in his native village, Kedambe, located in Satara district. Rs. 13.46 crore has been allocated for the project, with the first installment of Rs 2.70 crore (20%) being released to the district administration on Friday.

In an X post shared by the media agency ANI they stated “Maharashtra government has decided to build a memorial in honour of Ashok Chakra Awardee Tukaram Omble, a sub-inspector in Mumbai police who fell to the bullets during the 26/11 terror attack. The memorial will be built in Tukaram Omble’s native village, Kedambe, in Satara district. Rs 13.46 crore has been approved for this purpose, and the first instalment of this approved amount, Rs 2.70 crore (20%), has been made available on Friday to the district administration.”

Under The Establishing Monuments Scheme

In the financial year 2024-25, under the ‘Establishment of Memorials of Great Personalities in Rural Areas’ scheme, provisions from the account head 2515 2486 have been allocated for the construction of a memorial for Ashoka Chakra awardee and martyr Tukaram Omble in his native village, Mouje Kedambe, Taluka.

For the memorial construction in Javali, District Satara, 20% of the approved administrative amount, i.e., Rs. 2.70 crore (Two Crore Seventy Lakh), will be released in the first phase.

“Petitioner Tahawwar Rana has renewed his Emergency Application for Stay Pending Litigation of Petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus previously addressed to Justice Kagan and requests that the renewed application be directed to Chief Justice Roberts, according to the order published on the US Supreme Court’s website,” his appeal stated, as per the media agency ANI.
