Judge Elena Kagan dismissed the petition of Tehwwur Rana to stop India’s extradition. The 26/11 Mumbai attack convict Tawwur Rana filed a petition in the court to avoid extradition of India.

 

What did Rana say in the application?

It is important to note that Tahwwur Rana has filed a petition in the US Supreme Court demanding immediate ban on his extradition. In the petition, Tahwwur Rana said that if I was extradited to India, I will be tortured. I will not be able to last long in India.

Rana had said in his petition before the US court that he would be severely harassed in India due to being a Muslim of Pakistani origin. He further said that he is suffering from many diseases. He is also suffering from Parkinson’s disease. They should not be sent to a place where they are targeted nationally, religious or culturally.

Who is Tehwavur Rana?

Tehwavur Rana was born in Pakistan. He studied at Army Medical College and worked as a doctor in the Pakistani Army for 10 years. But Tawwur Rana did not continue this work. He quit his job. Tehwwur Rana, who was involved in terrorist activities against India, is currently Canadian citizen. But till recently he lived in Chicago, where he has a business.

According to the court documents, he has traveled to Canada, Pakistan, Germany and England. He has also gone there. About 7 languages ​​can speak. The court documents suggest that from 2006 to November 2008, Tawwur Rana hatched a conspiracy with David Headley and others in Pakistan. During this, Tahwwur Rana assisted the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba and Harkat-ul-Jihad-e-Islami and helped to plan and carry out the Mumbai terror attacks. The terrorist Headley has become a government witness in this case.
