Satna (Madhya Pradesh): Collector Satish Kumar S found a video of some labourers working in a brick kiln, on March 10. The video showed the mobile phone numbers of the labourers who were working in a place in Haryana where they were forced to work.

Soon after getting the video, the collector informed the assistant commissioner of labour Anurag Pratap Singh and advised him to work fast to rescue them as the labourers belong to Satna.

The collector also suggested Singh to arrange for their safe return to the district. The officer then contacted the labourers who belong to Kilhoura village under Majhgaon Janpad Panchayat.

The labourers informed the officer over the mobile phone that 24 a contractor, resident of Nardaha Barondha in Haryana took them to the state for working in a brick kiln. Before being taken to Haryana, they had been told that they would be engaged on daily-wage basis.

But they were asked to make bricks.

The 25 labourers included women and children. The labourers said that they were asked to work more and prevented from going to their home town. Even the contractor was not available to help them, the labourers said. They were kept in Durjanpur and Jeetkhedi villages under Bawani Kheda police station in Bhiwani district, Haryana.

Singh then informed his counterpart in Bhiwani and the police station concerned about the labourers. A joint team of labour and police departments, led by the assistant labour commissioner of Bhiwani, raided at night the places where the labourers were kept.

The team took out the labourers from there and sent them to a safer place. After reaching Delhi, they caught a train from there and arrived at Satna.
