Mumbai: A tragic train accident claimed the life of a 24-year-old man near Wadala railway station on Wednesday night. The victim, identified as a resident of Chembur, was employed with a Cotton Green-based firm and was traveling with a friend when the incident occurred.
According to railway officials, the accident took place at around 9:15 PM, shortly after the train departed from Wadala station. The man was reportedly standing on the footboard of the train when he accidentally hit a pole near the track. The impact caused him to fall off the moving train.
Alert co-passengers immediately pulled the emergency chain and alerted the Government Railway Police (GRP). Despite prompt efforts, sources confirmed that the man had succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Authorities have urged commuters to exercise caution and avoid standing on train footboards, emphasizing the risks involved. Further investigation is on by Wadala GRP.
