In a bizarre incident from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a 23-year-old man was reported slapping strangers on the street for a dopamine rush. The man said to be undergoing depression claimed slapping random people, as he went through the roads of the city, would help him cope with the mental health condition.
Man slaps strangers for months together
The young man was identified as Kapil Kumar who was observed slapping people for the last 5-6 months.
He would take his two-wheeler across the street and hit people he passed by to experience the dopamine rush and cope with depression. The man seemed no less than being on a smacking spree while riding his scooter and striking pedestrians.
Police action follows
According to reports, the police learned about Kumar’s actions after they came across videos of him slapping people in Meerut, which even showed him attacking a retired Provincial Civil Service (PCS) official and a woman.
A woman whom Kumar slapped approached the cops and filed a complaint stating that he smacked her for no reason while she was walking.
Unemployed, grieving loss of his dead father…
Kapil Kumar who has now been arrested reportedly went into depression due to being unemployed and grieving the loss of his father five years ago, after which he saw his mother remarry another man.
The health condition was Kumar has not been clarified through medical examination and reports. But a case was booked under BNS section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) after the local people collected evidence of him slapping at least three persons to seek dopamine rush and cope with depression.
