Mumbai Hit-and-Run: 23-Year-Old Biker Killed in Borivali East After Being Struck from Behind on Western Express Highway | Representational Image
Mumbai: A 23-year-old biker was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Borivali East on Sunday. The fatal mishap occurred when Akshatsingh Bisht was riding on the northbound arm of the Western Express Highway (WEH). An unidentified vehicle struck him from behind and the driver fled without assisting him.
The Kasturba Marg police have registered a case against an unknown individual, and are currently examining the CCTV footage to trace the accused. According to the FIR, Bisht resided in Mira Road East.
Just two days before the incident, he had recently started working as a manager at a tattoo parlour in Malad East. On Sunday between 2pm and 215 pm, Bisht was heading home on his motorcycle. When he reached near MK Bakery on the WEH, an unidentified vehicle hit him from behind and sped away.
He fell to the ground and sustained severe head injuries. Passersby transported him in an auto-rickshaw to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali West. However, Bisht’s condition deteriorated and he was declared dead at 5.30pm.
Based on a complaint filed by his brother, the police have registered a case under sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
