In connection with a case involving a 22-year-old car driver who was allegedly stoned to death last Saturday evening in the Pogaon area of Bhiwandi, a 21-year-old woman has been arrested over a property dispute with him and his relatives in Uttar Pradesh, and four suspects are still absconding, said an official from Bhiwandi Taluka police. The deceased has been identified as Akram Iqbal Qureshi, a resident of Jogeshwari, where he lived with his family.
The incident came to light when a passerby noticed a man lying in a pool of blood inside the car and alerted the local police. The Bhiwandi Taluka police rushed to the spot and shifted Qureshi to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Meanwhile, the police informed his family members.
According to the police, Qureshi left home on January 17 for work but did not return. Despite several attempts by his parents to contact him, he remained unresponsive until late Friday night. Subsequently, his parents approached the local police and filed a missing report. On January 18, Qureshi’s body was found.
Investigating officer from Bhiwandi Taluka police, said, “We did not disclose the name of the accused right now as there are still four accused remaining to be arrested in this matter.”
