Mira Bhayandar: The central crime branch (CCU) attached to the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police have arrested a 20-year-old youth on alleged charges of sending obscene videos and objectionable content to a minor girl.
About The Case
The accused aged 20 years (name withheld) who was arrested from Gujarat had committed the crime to take revenge on the prospective bride and her family for calling off their wedding.
The matrimonial alliance was fixed in October-2024. However, after learning that the accused was of a loose character, the girl’s family snapped ties with him and cancelled the wedding which was to be solemnised after the girl turned 18.
Notably, his wedding had been earlier called off before the wedlock on three occasions by the families of prospective brides for similar reasons.
Stung by yet another rejection, the spurned groom created a fake account on the platform of a social networking site to send objectionable contents in an apparent bid to humiliate the girl and take revenge with her family.
Complaint Filed Under Relevant Sections Of The Law
In response to a complaint filed by the girl’s family an offence was registered under the relevant sections of the Information Technology Act, Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (PoCSO) Act, 2012 at the Mira Road police station against the unidentified sender on 2, December, 2024.
The CCU was roped-in to conduct parallel investigations into the case and nab the culprit at the earliest. After thoroughly analysing the technical details of the fake account, a team led by police inspector- Rahul Raakh ascertained the identity of the accused and his suspected presence in Gujarat. A team immediately left for Gujarat and apprehended the accused from the Gadkhol Patia area of Ankleshwar with the help of their local counterparts. The custody of the accused has been handed over to the Mira Road police which is conducting further investigations.
