Around 20 wooden furniture shops in Azad Chowk, under the jurisdiction of the Jinsi police station, were gutted in a fire. The fire broke out in one of the shops at around 5 am on Thursday and quickly spread. Panic ensued in the Jinsi area, and a large crowd gathered in Azad Chowk. Fortunately, no lives were lost in the fire, but the shop owners incurred losses worth lakhs of rupees.
The firefighting operation faced a few hiccups due to water scarcity.
Shops engulfed by flames
The Jinsi Police Station Good Morning squad was patrolling the Azad Chowk area in the morning when the head constable noticed the fire and immediately informed the police control room. The fire brigade was called, and efforts to extinguish the fire began. The fire brigade managed to gain control of the fire after about one and a half hours of strenuous work.
Around 20 wooden furniture shops, located in a row in Azad Chowk, were quickly engulfed by the flames. Due to the prompt response in noticing the fire and calling the fire brigade, a major disaster was averted.
The police quickly arrived at the scene and dispersed the crowd. Senior police officers and fire brigade officers monitored the fire extinguishing efforts closely.
Witnesses reported that electricity transformers were located on both sides of the shops, and the fire initially broke out near one of the transformers. A case has been filed with the Jinsi police station, and further investigations are underway. Local residents assisted the fire brigade personnel in extinguishing the fire.
