Tirupati: A tragic accident occurred in Tirupati on Monday, January 6, when a 108 ambulance collided with a group of pilgrims, resulting in the death of two women and injuries to three others. According to reports, the ambulance hit a group of devotees who were walking toward the Tirumala temple. The incident took place near Narsinghpuram in the Chandragiri Mandal.
Deceased Victims Identified
The deceased women were identified as Pedda Reddamma (40) and Lakshmamma (45), residents of Champalapalli village in Ramapuram Mandal of Annamayya district, as reported by ABP News. The three injured pilgrims were rushed to Ruia Hospital in Tirupati for treatment.
Details On The Accident
The pilgrims were walking from Punganur to the Tirumala temple of Lord Venkateswara when the accident took place. The ambulance was reportedly transporting a patient from Madanapalle to Tirupati at the time. A video of the ambulance posted on X by ChotaNews, a local news portal, shows damage to the front bumper on it’s co-passenger side.
While the exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, police suspect dense fog in the area may have played a role. Chandragiri police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
2 Woman Killed In House Fire Recently
In another unfortunate event, two women lost their lives in a house fire in the Bapatla district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, January 5. The incident occurred late at night in Turpu Bazaar, Paruchur. The fire claimed the lives of two sisters, Nagamani (34) and Madhavi Latha (30), while their mother sustained injuries and was hospitalised.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit might have caused the fire. Local authorities are conducting further inquiries to confirm the cause.
