Two terrorists who attacked a mosque in Iran were hanged on Saturday. Both were convicted last October over an attack on a Shiite mosque in the southern Ir.an city of Shiraz.

Thirteen people were killed in this attack. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack. In which women and children were also included. The convicts were hanged on Saturday near the spot where the attack took place.

During the hearing, the accused confessed that they were in contact with the terrorist org.zation ISIS in Afgh.stan. He had helped the terrorists in the attack on the mosque. According to the report, the names of both the accused are Mohammad Rameez Rashidi and Naeem Hasham Ghotali.

Both the convicts were sentenced on March 16 last year. Three others in the case were sentenced to five, 15 and 25 years in prison for being IS members.

According to the police report, while carrying out the incident, one of the attackers entered the temple by hiding a rifle in a bag. After which he started firing indiscriminately on the people present in the mosque.

 

Meanwhile, the assailant did not even spare the people trying to hide in the corridor and shot them after finding them. However, during this time the police arrested 2 terrorists, while one managed to escape.

Officials said that the escaped terrorist has been identified as Hameed Badakhkhan. Later he was also arrested. But he died due to the injuries sustained during the arrest.

According to a report, so far in the year 2023, 354 people have been hanged in Iran. Norway-based Iran Human Rights (IHR) said the pace of executions is much higher than in 2022. Iran has sentenced 582 people to death in 2022.
