Lucknow: A container truck collided with a car, leading to the death of two girls on Tuesday. The incident occurred when a group of four friends were returning from Neem Karoli Baba Ashram in Nainital.
The accident occurred on the Delhi-Lucknow highway. All four doors of the car got locked, because of which the four people inside the vehicle were stuck for an hour until the police came to rescue them.
The two survivors are severely injured and are currently being treated. The Police suspect the car took a wrong turn, following Google maps.
The police have identified the car travellers as Shivani, Simran, Rahul, and Sanju, residents of Haryana’s Rohtak. A video from the accident spot has emerged.
In the video, the right side of the car can be seen damaged by the container truck, with smoke emitting from it. Two people – Shivani and Simran – died while struggling to get out of the car and waiting for help.
Reports suggest that the collision was so strong that the car almost got crushed, and the right side of the car was damaged by the container truck.
The police said that at least a dozen people were needed to douse the smoke, break open the car, and pull out the four friends.
The truck that hit was filled with cement pipes and overturned on the highway.
