Police have busted sandalwood smuggling in Pune, Maharashtra. The police team has also seized sandalwood worth Rs 25 crore. This action was taken on Sunday afternoon. In this case, the police has detained a person named Arpit Singh and a container driver. The police is currently questioning both.
Police have come to know that sandalwood is being smuggled into containers by hiding under coconut ropes.
According to the information received, on Sunday afternoon, the Property Squad stopped a container going towards Mumbai on the Urs Toll Naka on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway. Police had received information that sandalwood was being smuggled in containers in large quantities. Police have come to know that sandalwood is being smuggled into containers by hiding under coconut ropes.
The accused is being questioned by the police.
Police have speculated that there are ten to twelve tons of sandalwood. The price of this sandalwood is expected to be around 20 to 25 crores. In this case, the police has detained a person named Arpit Singh and a container driver. At the same time, the police are trying to find out where Chandan was going. Police have claimed that there may be many major revelations in interrogation of the accused. The case is currently under investigation.
