1984 anti -Sikh riots: major witness changed statement after threats, new revelations in court

New Delhi: Surender Singh, a prominent witness in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, changed his statement after repeated threats. This important information was shared by Manjit Singh GK, former chairman of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (DSGMC), during his testimony in the Rouse Avenue Court on Monday.

Witness claims to get threats again and again

Manjit Singh GK told the court that Surender Singh himself told him that he was threatened several times, which caused a contradiction in his statements. He said, “I explained to Surender Singh that the Sikh community is with him and he should tell the truth. After this he told the CBI the truth about the role of Congress leader Jagdish Tytler.”

Tytler accused of killing 3 Sikhs near Pul Bangash Gurdwara

Congress leader Jagdish Tytler is being tried in the murder of three Sikhs near Pul Bangash Gurdwara during the 1984 anti -Sikh riots. This case is going on in the court of Special Judge Jitendra Singh. A video sting operation CD was also conducted in the court during the hearing, which was conducted by GK in 2012.

Tytler’s lawyer said – sting is fake

Advocate Anil Kumar Sharma, Apoorva Sharma, and Anuj Sharma, presented by Tytler, have challenged the sting. He argued that this sting is not of Tytler and GK had no role in it. During the cross -examination, Manjit Singh GK also admitted that “I was not present in this sting, nor is I aware of the process of recording it.”

Claim of victim side – Tytler will be behind bars

Senior advocate HS Phulka, who appeared on behalf of Sikh riot victims, expressed confidence that Jagdish Tytler would be convicted after Manjit Singh GK’s testimony. He said that even after so many years, the victims expect justice and this matter can prove to be decisive for them.
