A 19-year-old worker lost his life in a grinder machine accident in Adarsh Nagar, Worli, on December 14.

Suraj Narayan Yadav, from Jharkhand, had been working for the past three-four months at a roadside Chinese food stall owned by Sachin Kothekar (32). Dadar police have registered FIR against Kothekar.

Initial reports said the hem of Yadav’s shirt got stuck in the machine and he got pulled in.

According to the police, the incident occurred while Yadav was handling a grinder machine to prepare raw materials for Chinese dishes. He had no prior experience or technical knowledge to operate such equipment. Kothekar allegedly assigned him the task without providing proper safety measures or training.
