A 19-year-old biker died, and the pillion rider was injured after riding recklessly and hitting a divider on a bridge in Bhiwandi on Friday night. The deceased has been identified as Amir Hamja Ansari, 19, and the injured, Meraj Arif Shaikh, 19, are residents of the Islampura area in Nizampura, Bhiwandi.

According to the police, Ansari was riding a motorcycle while Shaikh was the pillion rider. They were heading towards the Mankoli-Thane road from Bhiwandi when they met with an accident. Ansari was driving at high speed and recklessly crashed into a divider on the Mankoli bridge, causing him to fall onto the road. Ansari suffered serious injuries to his face and head, while Shaikh sustained minor injuries. A bystander rushed to the spot and alerted the local police. The victims were taken to a nearby hospital, where Ansari was declared dead on arrival.

Late on Friday night, Shahbaz Momin received a call informing him that Amir had been in an accident in the Mankoli area. Family members rushed to the spot and then to the hospital.

Santosh Shinde, the investigating officer, said, “We learned during the investigation that the biker was driving his motorcycle at high speed and collided with the divider, resulting in the accident. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.”
