MP: 17-Year-Old Boy Jumps From 3rd Floor After Being Scolded By Elder Brother In Ratlam; Had Failed 10th Board Exams Twice |
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 17-year-old boy in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam district jumped from the third floor of his house after being scolded by his elder brother for failing board exams.
The matter came to fore on Monday through a CCTV footage that surfaced on internet.
According to information, he had failed his 10th grade board exams for the second time. Due to this, his elder brother scolded him saying, “Nahin padhna hai to kaam pe lag jaa….(Start working if you don’t want to study.)”
Hurt by his remarks, the teenager went to his terrace around 11:24 pm and jumped from a height of 40 to 45 feet. He fell face down from the third floor and sustained multiple fractures in his body.
However, fortunately, his life was saved.
The incident took place on the night of May 7, just a day after the exam results were declared. CCTV footage of the incident surfaced on social media on May 11 (Sunday).
The boy had received supplementary exams in three subjects – English, Sanskrit, and Science, which left him disappointed.
Boy sustained fractures
After finding out about the mishap, the family rushed the boy to the district hospital and later to a private hospital in Indore, where he is currently admitted in the ICU. His condition is now stable, and he is able to talk, according to family members.
Doctors reported fractures in his hip, both heels, and left arm. He also suffered a lung injury, which was treated through surgery. His recovery is ongoing.

Such incidents have raised concerns about the students and their mental states in Madhya Pradesh.
