Bengaluru, March 22: In a shocking incident, a towering 150-foot-tall chariot collapsed during the centuries-old Huskur Madduramma Fair. The spine-chilling incident was caught on camera and the video of the incident is doing rounds on social media. The horrific video shows that the massive chariot which was being pulled by oxen and JCBs overturned, reportedly resulting in the death of one devotee.
As per reports, the incident occurred in the Anekal Taluk which falls under the jurisdiction of Bengaluru Rural. The chariots from Doddanagamangala and Rayasandra villages in Anekal Taluk were being pulled using the oxen, JCBs, villagers and tractors when the incident occurred. The tragic incident occurred when the sky-high chariot reached Huskur Madduramma Fai today.
The video of the incident is being widely shared on social media. The video shows a massive crowd pulling the chariot. They are seen running for their lives when the chariot overturned and is seen slowly falling to the ground.
The fair is famous for towering chariots which is being attended by lakhs of devotees. These chariots are pulled during the fair as a mark of prestige. There are also reports that during the festival which is celebrated in March every year, various chariots from different villages travel for many kilometers through narrow lanes to reach the fair.
Bengaluru has witnessed heavy rains today. The incident also occurred due to the heavy rains in the city which resulted in waterlogging, traffic disruption and also flights being affected due to the heavy rains.
As per reports, strong winds and heavy rains resulted in the 150-foot-tall chariot suddenly losing balance and falling. One person got trapped under the chariot after it overturned and reportedly died due to the injuries suffered in the incident.
