Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Preliminary Examination is being held today (Sunday) across the country. In Indore, 14,692 candidates will appear at 36 designated centres. The exam will be conducted in two sessions – from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
To ensure the exam proceeds smoothly, divisional commissioner Deepak Singh, the designated exam coordinator for Indore Centre, conducted a thorough review of the preparations on Saturday. He stressed that all arrangements must be in place so that candidates do not face any inconvenience.
Key directives included ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply at all centres from 7 am to 7 pm, with alternative arrangements in place. Adequate drinking water, cleanliness of toilets, and proper sanitation around exam premises were also emphasised.
A preparatory meeting was held at the divisional commissioner’s office, attended by additional police commissioner Amit Singh, deputy commissioner (revenue) Shaili Kanash, UPSC deputy secretary Neeraj Kumar, Indore Development Authority CEO RP Ahirwar, and other senior officials.
UPSC has appointed Neeraj Kumar as the inspection officer for the Indore Centre. Additionally, IMC additional commissioner Abhilash Mishra and IDA CEO Ahirwar have been assigned supervisory roles to ensure the examination process is carried out efficiently.
Deputy commissioner (revenue) Shaili Kanash confirmed that the exam will be held at 36 centres under Indore Centre No. 78. All centres have been instructed to complete arrangements ahead of time.
With nearly 15,000 aspirants appearing in Indore alone, authorities are taking all necessary steps to ensure a fair, peaceful, and well-managed examination environment.
Two female cops at every centre for first time
The city police have made all preparations to ensure a fair and transparent examination by conducting checks at entry points, maintaining vigilance across all 36 centres and taking swift action against any suspicious activity.
For the first time, each exam centre will have two female police personnel posted for frisking and security duties, alongside three male personnel.
According to additional commissioner of police Manoj Srivastava, a total of 250 police personnel will be deployed across the city for the smooth conduct of the examination. “Each centre will have five police officials, including two female officers, to manage security and frisking arrangements,” Srivastava said. The exam will be held in two sessions.
ACPs from each police zone have been appointed as nodal officers. They will continuously monitor the centres in their respective areas throughout the day to ensure law and order. All necessary preparations, including security checks and logistical arrangements, have been finalised.
Answer sheets to be flown to Delhi same day
In line with strict confidentiality and logistical protocols, answer sheets will be dispatched to Delhi on the same day. On the morning of the exam, school teachers will collect question papers from designated banks under the protection of armed police personnel. After the exam, the completed answer sheets will be taken to the post office, where they will be securely bundled and flown to Delhi that very evening.
