National Games 2025: India’s 14 -year -old Dhinidhi Desindhu, who attended the Paris Olympics, showed her best performance in the swimming event of the National Games on Wednesday. He made headlines by winning three gold medals with his brilliant performance, while Karnataka topped the medal table with five gold medals on the first day.

Karnataka won seven medals (five gold, two silver) on the first day while Manipur (four gold, four silver) finished second and Maharashtra (two gold, three silver, three bronze) finished third. The first day was named after Desindhu of Karnataka. Who won the gold medal with two minutes and 3.24 second sports record time in the women’s 200m freestyle event. The swimmer from Karnataka also won gold medals in women’s 100m butterfly and 4 × 100m freestyle.

The Paris Olympian Srihari Nataraja won the men’s 200m freestyle in the early day of the Manaskhand swimming pool swimming competition at Golapar, Haldwani and the gold medal in the men’s 4 × 100m freestyle.

In the women’s 200m freestyle, Delhi’s Bhavya Sachdeva (2: 08.68) and Aditi Satish Hegde (2: 09.74) of Maharashtra finished second and third respectively. Desindhu took out a time of 1:03:62 in women’s 100m butterfly and topped the podium for the second time in the day. Karnataka’s Nayya Shetty (1: 04.81) won silver while Srishti Upadhyay (1: 05.20) of Odisha won the bronze medal.

After this, Desindhu, along with Nina Venkatesh, Shalini R Dixit and Latesh Mandhana, gave Karnataka a gold medal in the women’s 4 × 100 meter freestyle with a time of 4:01:58. Maharashtra (4: 02.17) and Tamil Nadu (4:08:81) won silver and bronze medals respectively.

Karnataka won the gold medal with the team of Srihari Natraj, Aneesh S Gowda, Akash Mani and Chintan S. Shetty in the men’s 4 × 100m Fastle with a 3: 26.26 time, and set a new national game record. Tamil Nadu (3:29:92) and Gujarat (3:32:23) won silver and bronze medals respectively.

 

Nataraja won his second gold medal of the day with a time of 1: 50.57 in the men’s 200 meter freestyle. His partner Aneesh S Gowda of Karnataka (1:52:42) and Kerala’s experienced swimmer Sajan Prakash (1: 53.73) finished second and third respectively.

The only swimming competition of the day in which Karnataka did not win gold. It was a men’s 100 meter butterfly. In which Tamil Nadu’s Benediction Rohit won the gold medal with a time of 53.89 seconds. Maharashtra’s Mihir Ambre (54.24) finished second while Sajan Prakash (54.52) won his second bronze medal of the day.

Ramita Jindal tops the qualification

Haryana’s Asian Games bronze medalist shooter Ramita Jindal finished up to the Trishul shooting range of Dehradun in the qualifying of the women’s 10m air rifle event. The 21 -year -old shooter scored 634.9 in qualification. It overtook Korea’s Ban Hyozin’s 634.5 in the qualification round of the Paris Olympic Games. Ramita lagged behind 0.4 points from Arya Borsse of Maharashtra. Narmada Raju of Tamil Nadu finished third only 0.1 points. Vidarsani Vinod of Kerala finished fourth with a score of 633.0.

Shreya Aggarwal (632.0) of Madhya Pradesh, Alvanil Valarivan (631.9) of Gujarat, Meghna Sajjanar (631.2) of Karnataka and Manyata Singh (630.1) of Odisha are other shooters who qualified for Thursday’s finals.

London Olympic silver medalist

Vijayveer Singh Sidhu of Punjab topped the men’s rapid fire pistol with 587 points. Aneesh Bhanwala (582) of Haryana, Neeraj Kumar (579) of Army, Bhavesh Shekhawat (577) of Rajasthan, Omkar Singh (574) of Army and Gurpreet Singh (574) of Army also made it to the finals. Vijay Kumar failed to make it to the finals of the London Olympic 2012 silver medal winner of London Olympic 2012 while playing for Himachal Pradesh.

 

Odisha, Karnataka, Andhra won in Kho-Kho

Odisha defeated West Bengal 44–28, Karnataka defeated Uttarakhand 36–18 and Andhra Pradesh defeated Chhattisgarh 35-22. Maharashtra won a 24–20 win over West Bengal in women Kho-Kho, while Odisha defeated Gujarat 26–16 and Karnataka defeated Uttarakhand 41–12.

In the men’s water polo, Maharashtra defeated Haryana 20–0 and the army beat Punjab 17–1, while in the women’s category, Kerala defeated Tamil Nadu 25–0 and West Bengal defeated Haryana by a similar margin. In the men’s basketball 5 × 5 category, Delhi defeated Rajasthan 94-75 while in the women’s category, Kerala defeated Uttar Pradesh 76-37.
