A train staff from South Korea stepped down unexpectedly at a station and went to use the restroom. While he went to the loo for four minutes, which doesn’t appear too much of a time, the act impacted more than 100 trains scheduled that morning. This unusual incident was reported on Seoul’s Subway Line 2 after a conductor desperate for a toilet break alighted from the transport and rushed to the toilet.

It was learned that the rail had in-built toilets to avoid such instances, however, this metro staff opted to step down and relieve himself at the station’s washroom.

4 mins, 16 seconds…125 trains!

The person made an unscheduled halt at the station, only to return after a four minutes and sixteen seconds. His toilet break, which might seem not too long for common people including the walk of the toilet and back to the transport, affected the metro line on a great scale. It delayed the tightly packed schedule of next trains on the route.

Not one or two, but 125 trains ran on a delay that morning.

The trains were observed to be running over 20 minutes late in comparison to the regular time chart.

Seoul metro running late

Officials of the Seoul Metro were quoted in local media reports as saying, “The 125 trains following it had to be rescheduled and many of them were delayed 20 minutes from their originally scheduled arrival times”.

The Seoul Metropolitan Subway operates with 23 rapid transit, light metro, commuter rail and people mover lines. Of these, it is noted that Seoul Subway Line 2 where the recent toilet break incident took place and made to the headlines, is the most heavily used line.
