Israel-Hamas War: The Israeli army has accepted its failure in the October 7 attack. Investigation found that Hamas was able to make the deadliest attack in the history of Israel on 7 October 2023, as the more powerful Israeli army failed to underestimate the abilities of the terrorist group and failed to guess its intentions.
Pressure may increase on Netanyahu
Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Harji Halevi said, “I take responsibility for the failure of the army.” The report released on Thursday can pressurize Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to investigate whether he had taken any political decision before the attack.
Netanyahu opposed the demand for setting up an inquiry commission.
Many Israelis believe that Netanyahu failed to make an effective strategy to prevent the attack. The Prime Minister has not taken responsibility by saying that he will answer difficult questions only after the war. Despite public pressure, including families of about 1,200 people killed in the attack and 251 people held hostage in Gaza, Netanyahu has opposed the formation of the Inquiry Commission.
Citizens are questioning the Israeli army
An IDF (military) failed to fulfill its mission of safety of Israeli citizens on 7 October. Citizens are asking that where was the IDF when so many citizens were killed on that day?
A senior military official said that the army admitted that “we were very confident” and the Palestinian terrorist group had misconceptions about Hamas’s military capabilities before the attack and we did not expect such an attack. He further stated that Palestinian terrorists led by Hamas surprised Israel not only in terms of attack size and scale, but also in terms of their cruelty.
Hamas attacked three sides
A military investigation found that Hamas was attacked on three sides, in which more than 5,000 people had entered Israel from Gaza. It was further stated that the first attack involved more than 1,000 Nukhba militants, who had infiltrated the cover of heavy firing.
It states that there were 2,000 terrorists for the second time and for the third time thousands of citizens were involved in hundreds of terrorists. The report said that around 5,000 terrorists infiltrated the Israeli region during the attack.
