The Argentine President Javier Milei has managed to attain some of his goals that he vowed he would attain when he was fighting his election for the top job in Argentina in 2023.
12 Hour Daily Shift In Argentina?
One of the main goals that Milei set out to attain was to reduce the Argentine Public debt and its sky-high inflation rate.
After the initial shock therapy, Milei has managed to turn the tide against the country’s rising debt and inflation rate. However, the country’s poverty rate has increased.
Meanwhile, a report from an Argentine publication has claimed that Milei intends to introduce some new labour reforms to the country as well.
As according to the report from 11Noticias, Milei plans to introduce 12-hour a day shift for Argentine workers. This would amount to a 76-hour shift in a 6-day work week.
This shift would have no overtime.
Payment In Tickets
In addition, this new system will also implement an abstruse system, wherein law will also allow companies to pay workers partially with “tickets”, instead of any real money or currency.
This comes at a time when Milei has actively tried to undermine the local Argentine Peso for the US Dollar. Milei famously intends to dollarise the Argentine economy. poverty

Rising Poverty In Argentina
This new law is reportedly being dubbed as the “Law on Promotion of Investment and Employment”.
This comes at a time, when poverty in the country has risen recently. As per reports, poverty rate in Argentina surged to 53 percent in the first half of 2024.
This is up from 40 per cent in 2023. This also marks the highest jump in nearly 2 decades.
