Mumbai-Mumbai Police on Monday lodged an FIR against stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra for making derogatory remarks against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. An official said that the police on Monday arrested Shiv Sena activist Rahul Kanal and 11 others on charges of vandalizing a hotel in Mumbai.

Police have registered a case against about 40 Shiv Sena workers for allegedly vandalizing Habitat Studios at a hotel complex in Khar area of ​​Mumbai, where Kamra’s show with controversial comments on Shinde was filmed.

A large number of Shiv Sena workers gathered outside the Hotel Unicontinental on Sunday night. Police said they vandalized the studio and hotel premises.

Significantly, Habitat Studio, where Kamra’s show was held, is the place where the controversial ‘India’s Got Latant’ show was shot.

Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel lodged a police complaint after Kamra went viral after the video of alleged abuses against Shinde went viral.

On the basis of the complaint, the MIDC Police registered an FIR against Kamra on Monday morning under various sections including Section 353 (1) (B), 356 (2) of the Indian Penal Code.

An official of the MIDC Police Station said that in this video of about two minutes, Kamra also made fun of the ruling NCP and Shiv Sena. The case is under investigation.

An official said that the Khar police have registered another FIR against 19 Shiv Sena activists and 15 to 20 unidentified people, including Rahul Kanal (Yuva Sena), Divisional President Kunal Saramarkar and Akshay Panvelkar, for sabotage and damage to the property of the hotel.

A Khar police station official said that about 19 people have been identified and their names have been registered in the FIR, while 15-20 people who have been sabotaged are still not known.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IX) Dixit Gedam said that two cases have been registered at Khar police station. One case is against Kamra and the other against the miscreants.

An FIR was lodged on the complaint of Khar Police Sub -Inspector Vijay, who in his statement alleged that Panvelkar, Saramarkar and other Shiv Sainiks entered the hotel and studios and damaged.

Those bodies were shouting slogans like army Zindabad. When the police intervened, he allegedly pushed the policemen on duty and also attacked the hotel staff. PSI Vijay said that he was later caught and brought to the police station for further investigation.

The official said that a case has been registered against Shiv Sainiks under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including damaging private property and meeting illegally.

Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske warned Kamra on Sunday that party workers from across the country would follow him. He said in a video message, “He will be forced to escape from India.”

Describing Kamra as a contracted comedian actor, Mshaske said that he should not have set foot on the snake’s tail, and warned that when the snake teeth come out, he would have terrible consequences.

Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel said that he will show Kamra his status and he would have to apologize.

However, Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aditya Thackeray condemned the sabotage at the show site and described it as a cowardly act.
