Pushpak Express Fire: 6 Feared Dead After Being Runover By Other Train While Trying To Escape In Jalgaon | X | @JournoSiddhant
A major accident has been reported from Paranda railway station in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon. The passengers of the Pushpak Express panicked due to a false fire alarm, jumped off the train, and were run over by the passing Karnataka Express.
According to reports, at least 11 people were killed, and 30-40 others were injured in the tragic accident.
Railway officials and staff have reached the spot. Visuals of the incident show injured passengers lying on the side of the tracks.
Divisional Commissioner of Nashik, Praveen Gedam, told news agency ANI, “Passengers of the Pushpak Express were on the track when they were hit by the passing Karnataka Express on an adjacent track. We are at the spot, and the Additional SP, SP, Collector, and other officials are on their way. We are coordinating with the DRM and railway officials. As of the latest information, eight ambulances have reached the site, and additional rescue vans and railway ambulances are being rushed.”
He confirmed that at least eight people have died, adding that the toll could rise.
Central Railway CPRO Swapnil Kumar Leela has stated that an Accident Relief Train from Bhusawal Mandal has also been rushed to the spot.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis expressed his condolences on X regarding the tragic incident. He called the incident deeply painful and extended heartfelt tributes to the victims.
He informed that minister Girish Mahajan and the Superintendent of Police are already at the site, with the District Collector expected to arrive soon.
The district administration, in coordination with railway authorities, is making all necessary arrangements for the injured. Eight ambulances have been dispatched, and both the general hospital and nearby private hospitals are prepared to treat the injured. Emergency tools such as glass cutters and floodlights are also on standby. CM Fadnavis assured that the situation is being closely monitored, and immediate assistance is being provided, adding that he remains in constant contact with the district administration.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the accident. He ordered adequate medical treatment for the injured, also condoled the demise of passengers.
