In a major train accident, 11 coaches of the SMVT Bengaluru–Kamakhya AC SF Express (12551) reportedly went off the track near Nergundi Station in the Cuttack-Nergundi Railway Section of the Khurda Road Division, East Coast Railway, on Sunday (March 30) morning. The train derailed at around 11:54 AM when the train was heading from Bengaluru to Guwahati. Fortunately, there are no reports of casualties or injuries yet, as per railway officials.

The railway authorities swiftly responded after they received the information regarding the derailment. The railway staff was also once sent to the site to inspect damage and initiate emergency work.
In further assistance of the ongoing rescue operations, the Accident Relief Train and Medical Relief Train were also directed to the site, in order to clear the wreckage and secure the safety of the passengers. Currently, the precise cause of the derailment is still unknown and is under investigation.
Apart from the derailment, the service disruption also impacted several trains. The 12822 Dhauli Express, 12875 Neelachal Express, and 22606 Purulia SF Express have all been redirected from their respective routes due to the accident. Additionally, the passengers travelling on these trains have been notified of the route changes to stay clear of the damaged part of the tracks.
