The Delhi High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the Union Home, Personnel Ministries and others for not responding to the plea of over 500 CISF inspectors who have not been promoted for 19 years. These CISF Inspectors have not got promotion in the last 19 years despite the provision of promotion in five years. A bench of Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Nina Bansal Krishna passed the order on December 21, granting additional time of four weeks to the concerned persons to file their reply on depositing the fine of Rs 10,000 with the Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee Went.
The defendants in the case include the CISF functioning under the Union Home Ministry, the CISF Director General, the UPSC Chairman and the Ministry of Personnel. The High Court will now hear the matter on February 3. Over 540 CISF inspectors had earlier this year filed a writ petition before the court, alleging that they had received only one promotion in over 34 years of service. He alleges that now there is no possibility of promotion to the post of Assistant Commandant in future. The inspectors, recruited in 1987 and 2005, produced relevant figures before the court to explain their approach. The petition states that the senior-most Inspector, who directly joined CISF as a Sub-Inspector in 1987, got only one promotion in 28 years.
