Sheopur (Madhya Pradesh): Shocking videos purportedly showing– an official of National Chambal Sanctuary asking his staff to allow illegal sand excavation from Chambal River’s ghats, has sparked controversy on social media.

One of the clips show Superintendent of National Chambal Sanctuary Yogiendra Parde encouraging his team members to oversee process of illegal sand mining from Chambal ghats for financial gains. Another video shows him discussing the distribution of black money generated from the illicit act.

According to information, the two videos and an audio file revealing the corruption, has been spreading like a wildfire on social media.

Watch the video here:

‘I’ll get 1.5 lakh’

In one of the videos, Superintendent Parde is heard instructing employees to mine sand from various ghats, which would generate ₹7 lakh.

7 lakh milega to sabka kaam chalega, pure ghat milake 7 lakh rupaye hona chahiye. Tab mere pass dedh lakh rupaye bachega, jisko jo milna hai milega…(We need to generate 7 lakh rupees to meet everybody’s demand. That way I’ll be left with 1.5 lakhs and others will get their share),” he said.

‘Management is essential’

In another video, Parde is seen sitting on a bed, talking over the phone on loudspeaker. Here he says, “Management hai, das jagah (paisa) batega to hi mai success ho payunga na. Akele rakh ke paisa mai success nahi ho payunga, na mai bachunga na tumko bacha payunga….(Management is essential. The money must be divided among ten people for success. If I keep the money alone, neither will I survive, nor will I be able to save you), ”

‘The pits must be filled’

He further instructs his staff to fill the pits created by sand mining using JCB machines, emphasizing that the areas must be filled after excavation.

The audio recording adds another layer to the controversy. A local resident informs Parde about crocodiles entering Dalara village due to the sand mining. Instead of addressing the concern, Parde allegedly abuses the resident, stating, “If you are mining sand, the crocodiles will go somewhere. I will release four more crocodiles to bite you.”

Regarding the matter, DFO Sujeet Patil stated that, “I haven’t seen the videos yet, but senior officials from Bhopal have contacted me. We will conduct an investigation and take appropriate action.”
