Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh): Municipal Corporation took stringent action against use of polythene at shops located on Bombay Bazaar Road. The aim of the campaign is to promote environmental protection and spread awareness about the harmful effects caused by the use of polythene.

Shopkeepers were told about environmental and health related hazards caused by non-standard polythene. Corporation officials urged shopkeepers to stop using polythene and adopt environmental friendly alternatives.

Along with counselling, corporation slapped challan of Rs 5,000 on several shopkeepers. The campaign was led by the zone in-charges of the municipal corporation.

50 litres liquor seized 3 held In Kasrawad

Under an ongoing drive against illicit liquor, five cases were registered under sections Section 34(1)(a) and (f) of the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act and three individuals were arrested in Kasrawad, Khargone district on Thursday.

A total of 50 litres of illicit liquor and 1500 kg of Mahua ‘lahan’ worth Rs 1,60,000 was seized. Police sent samples of Mahua ‘lahan’ for testing and the rest was destroyed on the spot.

The driver was carried out following directives from the excise commissioner of Madhya Pradesh and orders from collector Karmveer Sharma and assistant excise commissioner Abhishek TiwariThe raids were conducted under the supervision of excise control officer Sajjendra Mori, with the support of sub-inspector Omprakash Malviya.
